SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke topped Bridgewater, 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons improved to 6-3-1, 3-0 in ODAC play, while the Eagles fell to 2-6-1, 1-2 in conference play.
The Maroons, who haven't lost to the Eagles in 13 series meetings, remained unbeaten in conference play. Roanoke's defense hasn't allowed a goal to Bridgewater over the last three regular season match-ups.
Rebekah Adams (Springfield, VA, West Springfield) led the Maroons scoring both goals in the contest, giving her four on the season.
After a scoreless first half, Adams got the scoring under way on a free kick from just outside the box, for the eventual game-winner in the 58th minute. Adams then left the game after taking a blow to the head five minutes later, but returned to score her second goal of the match with just four minutes remaining.
Katelyn LePore (Troutville, VA, Lord Botetourt) registred four shots, three on goal and Stephanie Parenteau (Virginia Beach, VA, Kellam) put two shots on the keeper.
Lindsay Kooiman (Fredricksburg, VA, Mountain View) recorded the shut-out for the Maroons, blocking two shots on the afternoon. She moved past Kara Hedges (Westminster, MD, Westminster) to take third on the all-time win's list at Roanoke with 32. Cari Hensley took the loss for the Eagles, picking up seven saves.
The women will host ODAC foe Washington and Lee Wednesday, Sept. 29. Kick-off is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
