SALEM, Va--- Roanoke fell to Washington and Lee, 75-62 Wednesday evening at the Bast Center. The Maroons dropped to 3-2, 0-1 in ODAC play, while the Generals improved to 5-0, 1-0 in the conference.
WLU defeated Roanoke for the second straight time. The Maroons still lead the series 75-39. The Generals used a 42-35 rebounding advantage and 52% shooting in the second half to get the hard fought victory.
Washington and Lee went on a 15-2 run to end the game with a 75-62 victory. The Generals connected on 9-of-10 free throws over the final three minutes.
Melvin Felix (Caguas, Puerto Rico, Salem) paced the Maroons pouring in 21 points, shooting 9-of-16, 3-6 from downtown and adding five rebounds. He has now scored in double digits in four of five games played and is currently averaging a team-high 17.8 points per contest, third-best in the conference.
Washington and Lee jumped out to an early 8-4 advantage six minutes into play. The Maroons responded with a 17-6 run of their own to take a 21-14 lead with just over six minutes remaining. Felix paced the men with seven points during the run. The Generals battled back, going on an 18-8 run to take a 32-29 lead into the half.
Both teams battled hard in the second half, trading baskets throughout the first nine minutes of play, before a conventional three point play by
Matt Crizer (Covington, VA, Alleghany) gave the Maroons their first lead of the stanza, 45-43 at the11 minute mark. The two teams then exchanged leads five times over the next six minutes of action. Felix scored six straight points during that stretch.

Jack Hamilton (Arlington, VA, St, Stephen's St. Agnes) added six points, four rebounds, and four assists, while
Joey Leech (Elliston, VA, Eastern Montgomery) chipped in with six boards.
J.D. Ely led Washington and Lee with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Generals finished with four players in double figures, with Taylor Gilfillan registering a team-high 13.
The Men return to action Saturday, December 4th as they travel to take on conference-rival Lynchburg. Tip-off is set for a 3:00 p.m. start.
