HARRISONBURG, Va. --- Roanoke avenged its season-opening loss to Bridgewater and knocked them off in straight-sets, 3-0 on the road Wednesday evening. The win propelled the Maroons to their sixth-straight win and improved to 14-3 overall, 4-1 in the ODAC.
The Maroons won with scores of 26-24, 25-21 and 25-17 to win in three sets. They went to five sets in the season-opener in the Averett Invitational against the Eagles after giving up a 2-0 lead.
Kelsey Largen (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) led Roanoke with eight kills and nine digs, while
Kylie Lucas (Verona, VA, Fort Defiance) also had eight kills on the night. ODAC Player of the Week
Maggie Wagner (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) led the Maroons with 19 digs with
Emily Martin (Daleville, VA, Lord Botetourt) contributing 11 against the Eagles.
Shannon Stone (Williamsburg, VA, Lafayette) had a solid evening as she finished with 13 assists and nine digs.
Bren Wilberger (Richmond, VA, Steward ) came off the bench to add 11 assists.
The women will host the 2010 Maroon Invitational this weekend at the Bast Center. They will take on Randolph College in an ODAC match-up during the tournament, in addition to in-state foes Averett, Southern Virginia and Ferrum.
