Harrisonburg, VA --- Roanoke defeated Bridgewater, 1-0 in ODAC women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon. The Maroons improved to 6-2, 2-0 in the ODAC while the Eagles fell to 6-2-1, 1-1 in the conference.

McKenzie Garst (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)corner kick spotted an open Jessica Welfare (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley)as her header found the back of the net in the 57^th minute to give the Maroons the win. The Roanoke, VA combo had their first assist and goal of the season, respectively.

Roanoke out-shot the Eagles, 10-6, including 7-2 in their second-half outburst as they put together arguably the best 45 minutes of the season. The corner kicks were even at three apiece, but Roanoke's three all came in the second half, including Garst's blast that helped score the game-winner.

Welfare, along with Carmen Graves (Christiansburg, VA, Christiansburg), notched three shots each for the Maroons. Graves totaled three of the teams' six shots on goal for the afternoon. Lindsay Kooiman (Fredricksburg, VA, Mountain View)finished with four saves in her sixth shutout win of the season.

The women travel to Emory, VA this Friday to take on ODAC-foe Emory & Henry. The Maroons are currently 11-1 all-time against the Wasps and won 5-0 last season. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
