Roanoke defeats Emory & Henry, 101-86

EMORY, Va. --- Roanoke had two 20-point scorers lead the Maroons past Emory & Henry, 101-86 on the road Wednesday evening. The men improved to 11-1 overall, 3-0 in the ODAC while the Wasps dropped to 7-6, 1-3 in the ODAC.
Roanoke is now 62-39 all-time vs. the Wasps. Curtis Peery scored over 20-points for the third time in his career against the Wasps with 24 on the evening in addition to 11 rebounds. He is now 24th all-time on the career scoring list, passing both Brad Dunleavy and Ron Pendleton with 1,100 career points.
The Maroons, ranked #22 in the D3Hoops Top-25 Poll, won their 10th-straight game, which is the most since the 1999-00 season (13). The 11-1 start is also the best since the 1999-00 season.
In a game with nine ties and 13 lead changes, Roanoke pulled away midway through the second half. They outscored the Maroons, 28-14 in the paint which mostly came during the second half.
Parrish Walker finished with a career-high 26 points to lead the Maroons along with a team-high five assists. Kendrick Chittock finished with six points and five rebounds in his first start of his career. Logan Singleton scored a career-best 16 points along with five rebounds to pace the Maroons.
Josh Lee led the Wasps with 20 points and six rebounds off the bench. Terrance Grigg finished with 16 points while Kyle Hutchins had 12 points in the losing effort.
The men will host Eastern Mennonite in ODAC action this Saturday at 7 p.m. following the women's game in a Roanoke basketball doubleheader. The Maroons are 56-13 all-time against the Royals.
