Salem, Va. --- Kristen McCoy scored the game-winner in the first half to lead Roanoke to a 1-0 victory this evening. The Maroons improved to 4-4-1, 2-1 in ODAC play while the Eagles dropped to 3-5-1, 1-1 in the conference.

The Maroons scored in the 17^th minute of the match as Meredith Grunewald found McCoy open in the box as she scored her fourth goal of the season to give them a 1-0 lead. It was the eventual game-winner and McCoy's second of the year as the Maroons won their second conference match.

With Grunewald's assist, she became the school's all-time career leader in assists with 27. With McCoy's goal, she is now one point shy of 100 career points which places her second on the all-time list. The Maroons are now 10-0-1 all-time against the Eagles.

The Maroons outshot the Eagles, 17-8 along with an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks. Lindsay Kooiman had five saves for Roanoke. Shauna Manovich finished with four saves for Bridgewater.

The women return to action this weekend as they host Emory & Henry on Saturday, Sept. 27 on Parents Weekend. The Maroons are 10-1 all-time against the Wasps. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
