McCoy's goal leads Maroons over Bridgewater, 1-0

Salem, Va. --- Kristen McCoy scored the game-winner in the first half to lead Roanoke to a 1-0 victory this evening. The Maroons improved to 4-4-1, 2-1 in ODAC play while the Eagles dropped to 3-5-1, 1-1 in the conference.
The Maroons scored in the 17th minute of the match as Meredith Grunewald found McCoy open in the box as she scored her fourth goal of the season to give them a 1-0 lead. It was the eventual game-winner and McCoy's second of the year as the Maroons won their second conference match.
With Grunewald's assist, she became the school's all-time career leader in assists with 27. With McCoy's goal, she is now one point shy of 100 career points which places her second on the all-time list. The Maroons are now 10-0-1 all-time against the Eagles.
The Maroons outshot the Eagles, 17-8 along with an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks. Lindsay Kooiman had five saves for Roanoke. Shauna Manovich finished with four saves for Bridgewater.
The women return to action this weekend as they host Emory & Henry on Saturday, Sept. 27 on Parents Weekend. The Maroons are 10-1 all-time against the Wasps. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
