Virginia Beach, Va. --- The men's lacrosse team fell to Virginia Wesleyan, 15-12 in the ODAC opener on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Maroons slipped to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the ODAC. The Marlins propelled to 6-3, 1-0 in the conference.
Virginia Wesleyan stormed out the gate in the third period to outscore Roanoke, 5-1 and take an 11-10 lead entering the final stanza.
The Marlins continued to roll in the fourth, scoring the next five goals to make it a 15-10 advantage. Quinton scored the final two goals to give the final result.
Roanoke was led by Quinton with a career-high six goals. Teammate
Pat March had a career-best six assists on the afternoon.
Ashton Hotchkiss finished with two goals and a team-high six groundballs while Carlson had a goal and an assist for the Maroons.
Bill Cameron netted one goal while winning 14-of-19 face-offs and picked up five groundballs.
The men will host Whittier on Sunday, March 30. The men are 1-3 all-time vs. Whittier and have lost the last three meetings, with the last back in 2003. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
