Salem, Va. --- Roanoke College defeated Emory & Henry, 3-1 in ODAC volleyball action this evening. The Maroons, who avenged a five-set loss to the Wasps last season, improved to 16-3, 4-3 in ODAC play. The Wasps dropped to 13-6, 3-4 in the ODAC.
After dropping the first game, 23-25, the Maroons won the next three, 25-22, 25-10 and 25-17 to win their fourth conference match of the season.
Kelsey Largen led Roanoke with a 17-kill and 22-dig performance.
Maggie Wagner had 12 kills and 20 digs while
Marcy Conner had five total blocks and nine kills to help propel the women to their 16
th win. Conner has moved two blocks closer to fourth all-time in career blocks (209) and passed teammate
Erin Burnop in career kills with 592.
Caitlyn Long, filling in for injured
Kate Feldman as setter, finished with a season-high 47 assists including 16 digs and one service ace. She is now one ace closer to moving into sixth all-time in that category.
Emily Martin stepped up tremendously tonight with a season-best 21 digs in the victory.
The women will travel to Washington D.C. to play in the Catholic Invitational. They will battle Stevenson University, formerly Villa Julie at 1 p.m. followed by tournament host Catholic at 3 p.m. It will be the first meeting against Stevenson and lost to Catholic in their only meeting in 2004.
