Ashland, VA - The Roanoke College women's soccer team defeated Randolph-Macon 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons improved to 9-6-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the ODAC. The Yellow Jackets fell to 9-7 (4-6 ODAC) in their final home game of the season. Roanoke is now 13-23-3 against Randolph-Macon.
Roanoke netted the only two goals of the match to fuel the women in the victory. Both goals were scored in the first half. Sophomore McKenzie Garst scored the Maroons first goal off of a free kick in the 19th minute of the contest.
Immediately after, Roanoke's offensive leader Meredith Grunewald scored unassisted to tally her 14th goal of the season.
Roanoke outshot Randolph-Macon 26-2 in addition to a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Lindsay Kooiman tallied her 62
nd save of the season. R-MC keeper Mary Jocelyn took the loss for the Yellow Jackets with six saves on the evening.
The women host the Wildcats of Randolph College in their last regular season ODAC match on Oct. 28. The Maroons hold a 29-1 advantage against the Wildcats all-time. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
