SALEM, VA- Roanoke College junior
Erin Hanson (Blacksburg, VA/Blacksburg) scored her 1,000th career point in the Roanoke's College women's basketball team's 92-22 win over Hollins on Friday night. Roanoke improves to 9-8 overall and 7-6 in the ODAC. Hollins is now 1-13, 1-11 in the league.
Hanson scored her 1,000th point on a short jumper in the lane with 5:40 to play in the first half. Hanson is the 14th player in Roanoke history to score 1,000 career points and is the seventh player in team history to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds.
The Maroons got scoring from all 14 players that saw time in the contest, getting eight points from sophomore
Virginia Ann Hagood and freshman
Lindsay Skaff and six points from first-year player
Courtney Long.
Marcy Conner scored five points and added two blocks and two steals. Freshman
Jaleesa Osborne scored 14 points and added six assists and six steals. Emily Long had a team-high 11 points and 10 rebounds for Hollins.
Roanoke is back in action on Sunday in a home game against non-conference opponent Piedmont College. The game will be played at 2:00pm in Salem, a change from the original 5:00pm start.
