ST. MARY'S CITY, MD--Roanoke College senior Carrie Smith (Charlottesville, VA/Monticello) scored two goals to lead the Maroons to a 3-1 win over St. Mary's (MD) College on Friday afternoon. The Maroons improve to 11-3 with the victory, while the Sea Hawks fall to 7-7. The game was the first ever meeting between the two programs.

Smith got things going for the Maroons just nine minutes in when she scored her fourth goal of the season, that coming off of an assist from Emily Hearn (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk). Rachel Flint (Towson, MD/Towson) gave the Maroons a 2-0 lead heading into the second half when she redirected an Erin Rayment (Bow, NH/Bow) shot from the point. Kelley Busik (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) started the play on a penalty corner and she and Rayment both earned assists on the play. After Smith scored an unassisted goal, off of a loose ball in front of the Sea Hawk cage, to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Maroons, St. Mary's finally broke through with their lone goal of the contest.

Immediately following the game the Maroons hit the road for Carlisle, PA where they will take on Dickinson College at 12:00pm on Saturday afternoon. Last season, the Maroons beat the Red Devils, 1-0, in one of their NCAA Division III record 10 overtime games.
