Daniel Smith was promoted to Associate Athletic Director of Campus Recreation at Roanoke College in the fall of 2024.
Smith is serving in his third year here at Roanoke College in the Campus Recreation department.
“I have a strong desire to provide programs to enhance the student experience here at Roanoke College,” said Smith. “I enjoy interacting with students on campus and watching them succeed in and out of the classroom. I currently serve as a ROA 101 instructor as well as the LGBTQ+ Coordinator on campus. I hope that students will be interested in engaging in a different activity that they do not normally participate in during their time here at Roanoke College to help relieve some pressure and engage in new hobbies.
“I am excited to work under the department of athletics and continue to enhance student programming here at Roanoke College. I am looking forward to new partnerships developing on campus between Campus Recreation and athletics. I think that we can be a great connection for all of our students on campus.”
The campus recreation department provides programming for students engaging in a variety of activities. We offer 10-15 intramural sports throughout the year for over 300 students to come participate as a recreational sport on campus. This is a great team bonding activity, and an excellent way to form new friendships on campus.
