Scott Bennett

Scott Bennett was hired in November of 2023 as the new Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Maroons. 

Bennett most recently served as the CEO of the Collegeiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. While with the CSCCa, he served as the primary point person for the organization with the NCAA and other professional organizations within college athletics. He helped promote the CSCCa and the value of the Strength & Conditioning professional/profession to the NCAA, head sport coaches, athletic administrators, and conference commissioners. Bennett also participated in interviews and answer questions from the media, advocating for the strength and conditioning professional/profession.

Prior to working for the CSCCa, he was the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance at Radford from 2012-2021. With the Highlanders, he was responsible for all strength and conditioning  programming for all 16 sports. He also initiated the formation of the Athletic Department Safety and Performance Committee.

Bennett also served as the Senior Associate Head Strength Coach at James Madison during the 2011-12 school year. He primary worked with the Dukes' baseball, softball, volleyball, men's tennis, and men's soccer teams. Bennett also oversaw the JMU Sports Performance Intern Program that consisted of 15-20 practicum students, interns, and volunteers. For the Spring 2011 semester, he had returned to Marshall as the Director of Sport Performance..

From March 2007 until December 2011, Bennett was the Director of Sport Performance as Southern Mississippi, where he oversaw all strength and conditioning programming for all of the Golden Eagle teams. 

Bennett served for nine years from 1998-2007 as the Director of Sport Performace as the University of Wyoming. Upon earning his bachelors degree, he served from January 1990-Une 1993 as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Clemson. There assisted the head coach with the implementing the conditioning programs while being responsible for teaching olumpic lifting techniques to all Tigers teams. 

He graduated from Ole Miss in 1989 with a degree in health and physical education with majors in sports medicine and sports management. Bennett also competed a masters degree in 1993 from Clemson in Guidance and Counseling.
