We sent a small but powerful trio of riders to Virginia Tech this past weekend. Samuel Lang and Gus Lynott represented Roanoke College in the Category A men's fields, which saw heavy international hitters take the first two spots. Both Sam and Gus were unlucky at the start, getting stuck behind a rider with a mechanical that had them chasing from the gun. They were able to move up consistently over the course of the technical race, eventually finishing in respectable positions in the middle of the pack. They both saw better results on Day two in the Short Track XC race, finishing 6th and 5th on the day.
Aidan Goldberg continues to find his rhythm in the Category B XC races, refining is skills while he shifts gears more to road cycling for building fitness.
"The fields were a little bigger this weekend, with schools outside of our conference joining in the fun," said head coach Shelley Olds. "The level of competition was higher than we are used to as well and the course was extremely technical. It was a great preparation race for Conference Championships this weekend at Lees-McCrae (a dual conference event), and National Championships in a couple of weeks. We will be ready!"
