The Short story: The seventh-ranked Roanoke College wrestling team captured its third-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Saturday evening, besting Averett University 33-8 in the final dual match of the 2024-25 season.

The Maroons won a share of the ODAC title in 2022-23, just the second year of varsity competition for the program. RC won the team championship outright in 2023-24 after a 22-12 win at Averett.

How it happened:  
*The action began at 141 pounds, and it took Mark Samuel just 2:17 to win by technical fall.
*The Cougars captured the 149 and 157-pound bouts, but David Reid won 4-2 at 165 pounds.   
*Kyle Lee beat the clock with a takedown in the final 20 seconds of his match at 174 pounds to win 5-4 and put the Maroons ahead 11-8.
*Vincenzo Corvetto won by tech fall at 184 and Hunter Moore won a hard-fought 1-0 decision at 197.
*Nicholas Cook won by major decision 22-11 at 285 pounds.
*Josh Noble won by technical fall at 125 and Jonah Paulino finished the night's action with a quick technical fall at 133 pounds.

Up Next:
*The Maroons (15-2/7-0 ODAC) will compete Saturday at the ODAC Championships, hosted by Washington & Lee University. Individual champions will be crowned at this event.
