The Short Story: The Roanoke College wrestling team earned three victories Friday on the first day of competition at the Budd Whitehill Duals, hosted by Lycoming College. The Maroons, ranked No. 8 this week in dual match rankings by TheOpenMat.com, breezed to three non-conference victories, including an impressive 37-6 vin over No. 19 Wilkes.

Roanoke improves to 9-1 on the season in dual contests.

How it happened:
*Several Maroons won multiple matches on the day, and Roanoke dropped just five of 30 individual contests overall.
*Mark Samuel scored three wins on the day at 141 pounds, scoring extra points in all. He won one by pin, one by technical fall and one by major decision.
*Hunter Moore won all three of his matches at 184, one by technical fall and one by major decision.
*Josh Noble and Jonah Paulino each went 2-0 on the day, at 125 and 133 pounds, respectively.
*Andrew McDougal was victorious in both of his contests at 157, as was David Reid at 165.
