Even though Rhyne was the smallest man on the basketball team, he was one of the most highly respected guards in Virginia.
Excerpt taken from 1918 yearbook: "His courage and enduring strength have won for him a high place in each of the major sports—the swiftest quarterback the football eleven has had for many years; so quick on the basketball floor that one is tempted to say he is in two places at once; and as sure a fielder as any baseball nine can boast."
Classmates and teammates considered him clever and skillful, a true inspiration to everyone.
