Roanoke College

During his college career, he proved a leader and inspiration to his teammates on the football field, basketball court and baseball diamond.

As a sophomore, he received All-State honorable mention for his prowess in football and was voted All-American honorable mention during his senior year.  In 1941, he captained the football team.
