Roanoke College

Recipient of seven varsity letters while at Roanoke.  Captained the basketball team in 1920 and 1921.  Was a starter on the Mid-Atlantic Championship team of 1919.

Was considered one of Roanoke’s baseball greats, Garis played shortstop, second base and third base.  Garis performed as a varsity end on the football team as well.

After graduation, his life has been dedicated to athletics and to young people.  It is largely through his efforts and guidance that this Athletic Hall of Fame is a reality.
